Reading through this now. It's just astonishing to me how small minded the diversity crowd can be. For instance there's a quote in the article by John Gaddis at Yale where he says 'When I arrived the history department was overwhelmingly white. Clearly some remedial action was long overdue.'

Now first of all i'm sure he's saying it to protect himself, in fear of the diversity mob. But was it overdue? That presumes that it was overwhelmingly white only because they were choosing to exclude well qualified non white professor candidates. That's not impossible but something that would need to be proven. Which they almost never do, when alleging some place is overly white due to racism. The same jump in logic is made.

I have not read the piece, but I am gen x, and I did not pursue a doctorate and a univ teaching gig because in 2000, it was clear, campus politics were toxic, and there was no real path for white men.
